Park Royal Food and Drink Manufacturing Industry Workshop

As part of the Park Royal Net Zero Food Systems initiative, Brunel University London hosted the Food and Drink Manufacturing Industry Workshop and Roundtable Discussion at Park Plaza London Park Royal. The event convened key collaborators from across the food and drink sector, including the Food and Drink Federation (FDF), Mondra, and WRAP, alongside businesses, researchers and policymakers.

Workshop Objectives

The workshop aimed to explore the current challenges and opportunities within the food and drink manufacturing sector, focusing on strategies to accelerate the transition towards net zero. Participants learned how data-driven approaches, standardised Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and cross-sector collaboration can enhance efficiency, resilience, and sustainability in production and supply chains.

Key Themes

Discussions focused on key themes shaping the sector’s sustainability agenda:

  • Decarbonisation Pathways – Practical approaches to reducing emissions across operations.
  • Data and Digitalisation – Leveraging data and technology to drive performance and transparency.
  • Collaboration for Impact – Building partnerships between industry, academia, and policymakers to enable collective progress towards net zero.

Collaborative Insights

Contributions from FDF, Mondra, and WRAP provided valuable insights into the evolving policy landscape, the use of scaled and standardised LCAs, and the role of data in enabling collaborative climate action. The roundtable discussions encouraged knowledge-sharing among participants and identified new opportunities for collaborations across Park Royal’s food and drink manufacturing community.

Looking Ahead

The workshop was a great initiative to support the area’s transition towards a carbon neutral and more resilient food system. Insights gained through this event will inform future engagement activities through the Park Royal Net Zero programme.
